Extra work

Make up an story

LIVE IN LOS ANGELES

Hi, my name is Virginia and I’m from Los Angeles, USA. I’m sixteen and I live here since I was six. Before, I was living in Paris. My family and I had to move home because of my mother, who works as an actress. She has appeared in some international films, and on 1999 she got work in Los Angeles. Her first role here was play as the Ben Stiller’s wife in a film which was popular, but only in the USA.

Here in Los Angeles, is very easy to see famous people walking on the streets and see filming because many films are filmed here.

Last week, my mum invited some friends at our home, among them there was Penelope Cruz and Scarlett Johansson. I met them and I think that they are very nice people.

Yesterday my dad and I came across with Jim Carrey on the beach and we were talking with him, he is a very pleasant person and really amusing! My dad talked about my mum and then Jim said: Oh! I think your wife is a very good actress, I already know her and I’ve thought that for my next film I will recommend to the director to call her cause I really like her!

My dad and I became very happy and invited him to come tomorrow with his wife and his two daughters.

I'm very happy to have known all these famous people, I think that when you see them on the tv escaping from the paparazzis you can think that they are stupid or something like that cause in these situatins you see their worse face, but when you know them it's fantastic!

Tom Cruise and Cameron Díaz in Sevilla for debut of 'Knight & Day'

Tom Cruise and Cameron Díaz will be in Seville on June 16th to attend the opening night of their latest film "Knight & Day", part of which was filmed in the city last autumn.

In the film, directed by James Mangold, Miller (Cruise) is a secret agent who goes on a blind date with unlucky-in-love June Havens (Diaz), and ends up pulling her into a serious yet comedic journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source.

Their adventure together takes them all over the world and into a succession of surprise encounters, persecutions and false identities, which bring them to realise that they can really only trust each other.

The film, which also features Peter Sarsgaard, Viola Davis, Paul Dano, Maggie Grace and Marc Blucas, with a script by Patrick O'Neill and James Mangold, based on a novel by Patrick O'Neill, will open in Spain on July 16th.

COMMENT ON THE NEW

The film knight and day is already finished and now, the city of Sevilla is looking forward the day of the opening night, which will be the 16th of June.

If I lived in Sevilla, I would go to look for this two famous actors and I would ask them for an autograph, because they are two actors who are famous around the world, they appear in many films and they are so important for the cinema world.

I’m sure that there are people who have travelled to Sevilla only to can see closely Cameron Díaz and Tom Cruise

DANCING IS MY REMEDY

Dance is one of the bests arts, it's refered to movement of the body and usually rythmic; and referd also to music. I said that is one of the bests arts because it's a nice form of expression. Also, there are sports related to dance like gymnastics or sincronized swimming.

Dance can help to express ideas, emotions and it can tell a story too.

There are many styles and types of dancing:

The breakdance and the krump are related to the hip-hop culture.
The african dance is interpretative.
The Ballet, the waltz and the tango are classical styles.

Now, I'm going to talk about two diferent styles of dance:

BALLET

Ballet is a formalized kind of dance. It's accompained with classical music.
Ballet dace is performed by trained dancers. I've always thought that it is the base of the other styles.
Also, it is a very elegant dance.

This type of dancing is very hard to take practice because it needs a very good health and precise acrobatic movements.

HIP-HOP

It refers to the dance styles that in its origin were danced to hip-hop music or that were developed in the hip-hop culture by Black and Latino Americans.

In the hip-hop dance, there is another popular type of dancing which is called freestyle. Usually, the hip-hop dancers participate in freestyle competitions, which are totally improvized.

To some, hip-hop dance may only be a form of entertainment, but to others it has become a style of life.

FILM REVIEW

- GHOST

GHOST is one of my favourite films.

It's a film protagonized for Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. Its director is Jerry Zucker.

It's a dramatic and romantic film. It was nomined to three oscars and it won two oscars for the best actress (Whoopi Goldberg); and for the best original script.

Its argument is based on a very happy couple which is completely in love, but suddenly a thief kills Sam, the man. He continues appearing on the film, but as a ghost. Then, the most important thing is that he can see his wife, Molly but she can't see him. Sam wants to help her of the thief but she can't hear and neither see him.
__________________________________________________
I was a little when I saw by the first time this film, I remember that I thought: what a boring film! But a few years later I saw it again and I enjoyed it a lot. Its argument is so nice and emotional and every time that I've watched it I've cried.
I recognize that if you have never heard about this film and you see the tittle, you may thing that it's an horror film; but when you wacth it, you understand everything. It's one of the bests films I've ever seen; and if you haven't seen it yet, I recomend you to take some handkerchiefs, to sit on your sofa and watch it!

Here you have the most popular scene of this film, I hope you enjoy it!

· My bad habits ·

I'm going to talk about my bad habits and my manias. If I had to say all my bad habits I would never finish. I will start by saying you all the things that I have to do every day.

When I wake up, I must have my clothes prepared, cause in the morning and at seven o'clock I'm not able to open the cupboard and find the clothes that I want.

Also, I must have a shower -I always say: Unless I have a shower, I'm not a person-. There are times when I get up too late to be able to have breakfast and also have a shower, so in these ocasions, I prefer have a shower.

I must have my school bag prepared, with all the books and my homework done, because unless I do it, I can't sleep calmy, it's estrange, yes, but it's true!

My bedroom must be always in order: all my clothes have to be in the cupboard and it must be closed! Also, there can't be more than a piece of clothes on the same hanger. On my bed there can't be any wrinkle. Often my friends say to me: YOU'RE TOO ORDERLY!
But I think that it's not a bad quality.

Like a lot of people I have the habit of biting my nails and also the habit of break my open hair tips, and this is a very bad habit!

I would go on with my bad habits, but I wouldn't finish...

OPINION ESSAY

-HAVE WE ALMOUST LEARNT TO RESPECT OUR WORLD?-

I think it's clear that we won't learnt to respect our world. Maybe, every time we are respecting it a little less. This is easy to see with the climate change. After all, it is our fault.

Maybe, now, the governments and the politicians are working against climate change more than before. But a hundred years aog, people respected the world more than now.

Refering to the idea that we have learnt to respect the world, I don't agree with that; because, as I said before, climate problems are increasing because of the pollution that we produce. However, now, there are solutions and new alternative energies.

To sum up, in my opinion, we have to do something as soon as posible so as to solve these problems, because soon, we won't be able to find a solution; it will be too late.

A SONG!

HEY, SOUL SISTER - TRAIN

Lyrics:

Heeey heeeey heeeeey

Your lipstick stains on the front lobe of my left side brains
I knew I wouldn't forget you
And so I went and let you blow my mind
Your sweet moving
The smell of you in every single dream I dream
I knew when we collided you're the one I have decided
Who's one of my kind

Hey soul sister, ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight

Heeey heeeey heeeey

Just in time, I'm so glad you have a one track mind le me
You gave my life direction
A game show love connection, we can't deny
I'm so obsessed
My heart is bound to beat right out my untrimmed chest
I believe in you, like a virgin, you're Madonna
And I'm always gonna wanna blow your mind

Hey soul sister, ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight

Well you can cut a rug
Watching you is the only drug I need
So gangster, I'm so thug
You're the only one I'm dreaming of
You see I can be myself now finally
In fact there's nothing I cant be
I want the world to see you'll be with me

Hey soul sister, ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo
The way you move ain't fair you know
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight
Hey soul sister, I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight

Heeey heeeey heeeeey (tonight)

Heeey heeeey heeeeey (tonight)

VALORATION

I have chosen this song because it's very nice, I know it for a few days, and when I heard it I thought: what a beautiful song!
The music band that sings it, is called Train; and it's a rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1994.

This song talks about the soul sister, which is a person who is very similar to you.
In his song, the singer says that he have found his soul sister and he's in love with her, he says that he always dream on her, and that he only wants to be with her.

I think this is an original topic because most of the songs talk about the simple love between a boy and a girl, but I had never heard a song which talked about the soul sister.

ORAL PRESENTATION

-CHILD LABOUR-
TRANSCRIPTION
1. What’s it?

Child labour is a work done by a child.
This kind of work stops the child’s education and interrupts his develop. It’s a dangerous work for the well being of the children because they have to work in bad conditions, and sometimes they are like slaves. This is considered a human rights violation, but some countries tolerate it.
Child labour can have serious consequences like chronic diseases, wounds or chemical infections.
The children who work in these conditions are between five and fourteen years old, and as you know the legal age to start working is sixteen years old.

· Children who are victims of the traffic (of drugs and arms).
· Children who work as slaves.
· Children forced into prostitution.
· And children forced into illegal activities.

2. Some countries tolerate it

Unfortunately some countries tolerate it. The countries which are in red have a thirty per cent or more child labour, and these countries are specially situated in Africa. But in orange we have the countries that have between ten and twenty-nine per cent of child labour and there are some of them in America and in Asia.

3. Different types of child labour

In Africa the children have to work in diamond mines, they don’t wear any way of protection and they have to work with toxic products, they can’t stop of working for 20 hours and nobody pays them a salary. Also when a child is ill or hurt never receives help of a doctor, and because of it, their lives are very short.

Also, some children work on agriculture and start to work on it when they are five years old. Sometimes they have to go to distant farms and leave their families. They live in a dangerous and stressing way. In the farms, they live in bad conditions and if they try to runaway, they receive beatings. The most of the children work on agriculture.

In Africa, the child labour is based also on “Soldier children”: They have to work as cooks of the army, and they have to participate in wars too, at the age of seven. They are too young to support the violence that they support. The children who work in the wars don’t have education and they haven’t got another option apart of the war.

The domestic slavery: Some children have to work in their homes, but sometimes even thought their parents beat them. It makes that these children can’t go to the school. Some of them receive a good tract, but others become slaves of their families. The majority of the times, they are girls, and some of them are just six years old.

4. UNICEF

We think that is important to talk about a solution of this problem, so we are going to talk about an organization that is UNICEF.

We suppose that most of you had heard from it at least one time because it’s a very important organization and as you know, the football players from the FCB sponsor it.

UNICEF was created on 1996 by the general meeting of the United Nations.
The first objective was help the child from Europe, after the second world war.
Now the main objectives are:
- Prevent the prostitution on the poorest places on the world, specially in Africa.
- In the education’s field the objective is that most of the children will be able to go to school. Specially girls.
- And also guarantee a good health and that they live in good conditions of sanity.

5. CONCLUSION

Finally, we had made a little conclusion to summarize this question:

We think that all the governments should do something for help all the children that is forced to do this kind of work, and make it safe. And they have to solve the sanity problems or stop the dangerous child labour.
The governments have to be sure that the children are far from the wars, because it’s very violent and dangerous. The main objective is that they can have a happy childhood and also a good adolescence, like children who live in develop countries.
OBSERVATION
In the one hand, in our oral presentation we use a power point which was full of images and pictures related to the topic that we chose: the child labour.
I think that for this topic it is not necessary to put all the information that we found. We put a lot of images cause then people who is looking at you, is interested on the presentation because of this picture, which are very interesting.
Our time was short, but I think that we have time to explain all the important things that we wanted to explain; but it is true that maybe, we talked a little quickly.

When I have seen our video, I have seen that we looked quite at our audience, but specially me, sometimes, when I forgot something tat I had to say, I had a look at my notes, but not much times.
I think I did some gestures, but sometimes it is difficult to talk like when you’re talking with a friend, for example.

In our presentation we included enough information, and the most interesting information that we found, cause sometimes, when in an oral presentation you talk about too things, often the audience gets bored, and then, they don’t remember about nothing.

The vocabulary and the grammar that we used were simple, because all the information that we explained was made for us. Also it was correct and good pronounced, but I recognize that there’s always something that can be better.

Maybe, the worse thing that we did was talk too fast. But as we’ve seen in our video, we used a good intonation; we spoke fluidly and without interruptions.

How I see me in the future?

I think that in two year's time, I will be studiing journalism in Barcelona -at least this is what I hope-. I know that for study this career I have to take very good marks of batxillerat and also of selectivitat, but this year and next year, I will work a lot.

To wander off the subject of my studies, I want to be very happy and make new friends at the university, but never forget my firends from here and continue seeing them.
In ten year's time, I hope I will be a journalist, or maybe I will work in a magazine, I don't know, but I want to get married with the person that I really love and travel around the world with him.

I'm going to be realist; maybe, the thing that I hope and I want, will never happen. I know that even though now, in batxillerat, I complain about the exams and the homework, in the future the work that I'll have to do, will be worse.
